Beyond the Headlines: The Practices and Policies to Improve the Use of GIS for Pandemic Response and Public Health

The National Pandemic GIS Task Force was founded in 2020, and through coordination with organizations like IAEM, ASTHO, and NACCHO, the National Pandemic GIS & Informatics Task Force Playbook was developed. The playbook guides action for common scenarios, stages, and business problems and outlines tactics based on best practices and lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic. Frank Winters, chair of the National Pandemic GIS Task Force, will lead a discussion of data practices and policies that will improve the effectiveness of spatial data in public health. The intended audience is decision-makers, planners, and geospatial technologists.
